• So we’ll start with the basic things. What is the first thing you need to retrieve anything from the Internet? I’ll save you the trouble—a web browser. You can proceed with whichever you like better or whichever you’ve comfortable with. That is the first step in trying to get into the settings panel using 192.168.4.1 IP. 

• Once you’ve made a decision, we can go ahead and start a fresh instance of our favorite web browser. The next thing to do is in the address bar type (very cautiously) “http://192.168.4.1” and press the enter button to go on. If all goes OK, which it perhaps will, if you have all the prerequisites or components I listed above, then it should give you another page, with a small form containing two fields embedded in it.

• That is where the authorization takes place. Which means what? It means you’ll key-in your passkey and user ID. They’ll be checked against a database to recognize you as an existing user. That’ll take you a leap further towards using 192.168.4.1 to make your changes.

Now, if you haven’t done anything to the credentials ever since you bought the router, then that’s fine. If you did change them once or many many times, you’ll need to enter the latest ones.

Also, while we’re at it, you can search for them over the Internet if you lose the credentials. Using your router’s model name and use them to enter the 192.168.4.1 router’s environment.

Resetting The Router

If you can’t find anything over the web, reset the gadget, then look over at the back of the package for default ones (that if you can’t remember them too), or maybe you got some sort of handbook which can help you. Just find the default ones, enter 192.168.4.1, and get to the portal.

If and after you’ve gone through the authorization barrier, the browser will take you to another webpage, which is the main page or the panel or portal or whatever you call it. You can do different kinds of magic in the router’s panel, which you’ve entered using 192.168.4.1, like if you do not like your WiFi’s name, you can change that by going to settings related to your wireless via the general ones. Similarly, you can go ahead and change your passkey to make your system more secure on the whole level!
